trans allyship workshop

This workshop provides participants with an opportunity to learn about vocabulary, pronouns, race and gender, interpersonal, institutional, and systemic transphobia and cissexism, and concrete actions for supporting trans, non-binary, and gender non-conforming people and communities. The workshop incorporates a presentation, informational handouts, and individual and group activities to engage participants in thinking critically about gender. The session concludes with a Q&A with the facilitator.

The goal of the workshop is to provide a basis for understanding and supporting trans, non-binary, and gender non-conforming people. This is accomplished by centering the experiences of trans, non-binary, and gender non-conforming people, complicating ideas about gender, and making space for questions.

This workshop can be tailored to the specific needs of the participants, such as high school and college students, educators, higher education administrators, parents and family members, non-profit organizations, and more.

queer & trans students of color reflective conversation

This workshop provides an opportunity for LGBTQ students of color to discuss their experiences of homophobia, transphobia, transmisogyny, racism, and community organizing at their school, college, or university, create and celebrate community with other LGBTQ students of color, and develop tools to address self-care, burnout, and surviving and thriving on and off campus.

Participants will create a shared action plan for continued community organizing and community building post-workshop, and will make their own self-care boxes.

k-12 & college faculty and staff reflective conversation

This workshop provides an opportunity for K-12 and college faculty and staff to discuss how they can support their trans, non-binary, and gender non-conforming students and LGBTQ students of color. The reflective conversation will be specific to the needs of the school or college and its students and staff. We will discuss how transphobia, transmisogyny, homophobia, and racism manifest on campus, how to advocate for trans, non-binary, and gender non-conforming students and LGBTQ students of color, and how to enact institutional change.

Participants will create a shared action plan for continued advocacy at their campus, and receive resources to guide future conversations.

inclusive language workshop

This workshop invites participants to learn about inclusive language practices for discussing race, gender, and sexuality, especially within the context of communicating with and about people of color, LGBQ people, and trans and non-binary people. This workshop will also cover gender-inclusive language practices, which are applicable when writing and speaking about any topic (not just when communicating with or about trans and non-binary people!). The workshop includes a presentation, informational handouts, and individual and group activities. The session concludes with a Q&A with the facilitator.

This workshop can be tailored to the specific needs of the participants, and can include a discussion of specific examples provided by the participants upon request.
